
Charles Sluga is an internationally recognised professional watercolourist, highly regarded for his unique vision and versatility in the medium.
An enthusiastic, popular and passionate teacher of watercolours for 15 years, the waiting lists for his classes is testament to CharlesÕ popularity and skill as a teacher and watercolourist. His friendliness, sense of humour and willingness to impart his knowledge makes his classes relaxed, informal and inspiring.
Charles has led six painting tours to Europe, and was Guest Artist at the renowned workshop venue Castle of Park, Scotland (2007) and ÒThe WatermillÓ in Passaro, Tuscany (2008).He also conducts an annual tour along the magnificent Croatian Coast. This will be his first workshop in New Zealand.
Charles has had numerous solo exhibitions and has won many awards in Australia, most notably the highly coveted Alice Bale Award for Best Watercolour, 2003. This exhibition is AustraliaÕs premier exhibition of Figurative and Realist Art.
He was invited to represent Australia in the Florence Biennale of Contemporary Art (2005 and 2007) and has been invited to have his work represented at the New York Art Expo. He has featured in the Australian Artist Magazine many times.
Charles is also currently working on his first book on watercolour painting.
Charles not only works on watercolour paper, but is also an exponent of working on Yupo- a synthetic paper made from polypropylene plastic. A surface that Charles says gives you a new excitement and direction for your watercolours. He will be introducing this amazing surface in his New Zealand workshop.
